Did you know that the Oklahoma River is the only river to be named a U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Site? In 2009, Oklahoma City was given the designation as a training site for both rowing and canoe/kayak.
Oklahomans had been fanatics of our river playground for years, but this event marked our city's emerging role in both national and international sports. It also opened the door for opportunities to grow this venue and the sports that happen on the water. Today, OKC provides some of the U.S.'s top rowing and canoe/kayak athletes with the best training facilities and resources available – helping them prepare for their shining moment on the world's stage.
