Summer is the perfect time for your little angler to get outside and hone his skills. The City's free "Hooked on Fishing" kids' fishing classes begin in June, and are held on select Saturdays through August at locations across the metro. Kids will learn fishing basics like knot-tying, casting, fish identification, angler etiquette and fishing regulations. These "catch-and-release" classes are open to boys and girls ages 5 to 15.
Never fished before? Don't worry! Poles, tackle and bait are provided. Enrollment begins on May 16, and reservations are required. Classes are from 8 to 10 a.m., and kids must be accompanied by an adult. Call the OKC Police Athletic League at (405) 316-FISH for information and to reserve a spot for your budding fisherman!
