From its 1960s and ‘70s heyday as a counterculture haven to its current renaissance as the center of Oklahoma City’s arts community, the historic Paseo District is a place of singular charm and style. The Spanish stucco buildings house a wonderfully eclectic array of art studios, galleries and boutiques, as well as restaurants such as the elegant Paseo Grill and its sister pizzeria, Sauced on Paseo. It all adds up to what the American Planning Association in 2010 called one of the nation’s 10 Great Neighborhoods.
On the first Friday of each month, the Paseo cranks up the hospitality with the First Friday Gallery Walk, in which more than 60 neighborhood artists show off their wares amid a blocks-long party of music, food and fun. Be sure to check out the next one on Aug. 5.
