Time to hit the links? With more than 30 public and private golf courses in the Oklahoma City metro, options are plentiful to – ahem – get in the swing of things. Five top-notch courses are operated by the city’s Parks & Recreation Department: Earlywine, Lake Hefner, Lincoln Park, Trosper and the James E. Stewart Golf Course. Among the many first-rate private courses is Edmond’s Oak Tree Golf & Country Club, which hosted the 1988 PGA championship and 2006 Senior PGA championship, and in 2014 will be the site for the U.S. Senior Open. Further outside the metro are two of the country’s best college golf courses: Oklahoma State University’s Karsten Creek and the University of Oklahoma’s Jimmie Austin Golf Club. With so many terrific possibilities, great golf is just – ahem – par for the course.
