If you haven’t yet visited the most celebrated baby in Oklahoma City, you’re one of the few who still hasn’t. Malee, the first baby elephant ever born at the Oklahoma City Zoo, is being credited with drawing nearly 1 million visitors to the zoo so far this year.
Malee’s mom, 16-year-old Asha, delivered the elephant calf on April 15. Since that time, both mother and child have taken the throngs of well-wishers in stride at the zoo’s new $13 million elephant habitat. We just wouldn’t suggest your trying to hold the baby. Malee weighed in at a whopping 304 pounds at birth.
