
Oklahoma City is a community clearly committed to higher education. With 15 colleges and universities and two community colleges in the metro area alone and more than 100,000 college students, few metro areas service their citizens with as many higher education choices as Oklahoma City.
UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA
The University of Oklahoma is a public research university with just under 30,000 students. OU is number one in the nation in the number of National Merit Scholars enrolled per capita among public universities and is in the top five of public universities in the nation in the graduation of Rhodes Scholars. The Princeton Review called OU among the top 10 public universities in the nation in terms of academic excellence and cost for students.
The school offers 152 baccalaureate programs, 160 master’s programs, 75 doctorate programs and 20 majors at the first professional level. OU’s College of Law has been named one of the 15 best laws schools in the country by the Thomas M. Cooley Guide and the OU Health Sciences Center is Oklahoma's largest and most comprehensive hospital.
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY
Oklahoma State University is a land-grant, public research university with over 32,000 students in its system. OSU has been named a Truman Honor Institute as a result of having 15 Truman Scholars and the Carnegie Foundations classifies OSU as a “High Research Activity” campus. The Princeton Review also named OSU one of its “Best Value” colleges.
OSU’s Donald W. Reynolds School of Architecture ranks among the top 20 in the nation. The university also features nationally renowned Veterinary, Mechanical Engineering and other Agricultural Science programs.
OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY
Oklahoma City University is a private institute with 3,800 students. OCU offers more than 60 undergraduate majors, 12 graduate degrees, including a JD, MBA and PhD in Nursing, and an Adult Studies Program for working adults to earn a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. OCU is the only Oklahoma institution listed in the top tier of the master level university category by U.S. News and World Report magazine's "America's Best Colleges" issue. OCU also has a renowned law school, school of theatre and school of music. In fact, three OCU alumni have gone on to win Miss America.
UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
The University of Central Oklahoma is a public university and was the first institution of higher education established in Oklahoma. UCO has over 15,000 students and offers over 135 degree options, including the state’s largest Computing Science department and one of the Top 20 Physics departments in the U.S.
OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY
Oklahoma Christian University is a private institute with nearly 2,300 students. The university offers degree programs in three colleges: the College of Biblical Studies, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the College of Professional Studies. For 2008, Oklahoma Christian University was ranked No. 58 among master's-degree-granting universities in the 16-state Western region by U.S. News and World Report. This marked the 12th consecutive year OC earned national recognition in the magazine's rankings and the sixth consecutive year the university was ranked in the top 10.
ACM@UCO
The Academy of Contemporary Music at UCO is a program unlike any other in the United States. The University of Central Oklahoma has teamed up with the ACM of London to offer a music education that really is all about the music. Students are taught by accomplished musicians, production experts, and music business professionals. Not only that, but students also receive master class instruction from some of today’s stars from the world of rock, pop, gospel and country music. Nicknamed the “School of Rock” ACM@UCO is located in Bricktown.
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY-OKLAHOMA CITY: OSU-OKC is a two-year school with over 7,000 students. Part of the Oklahoma State University system, the school offers more than 40 degrees or certificates.
ROSE STATE: This community college services over 8,000 students including many military personal due to its proximity to Tinker Air Force Base.
OKLAHOMA CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE: A community college with just under 20,000 students, OCCC offers 36 Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree programs, 24 Associate in Applied Science degree programs, and 18 Certificate of Mastery programs.
LANGSTON UNIVERSITY-OKC: Part of the Langston University system, their Oklahoma City branch is a two-year school with 3,000 students.
UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA: USAO is the only public college with a strictly liberal arts-based curriculum in Oklahoma.
REDLANDS COMMUNITY COLLEGE: A two-year community college with over 2,000 students.
SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY: SNU is a private, liberal arts school with 2,000 students that was founded in 1889.
OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY: OBU is one of the top two baccalaureate colleges in the western region in the 2010 U.S. News & World Report rankings of “America’s Best Colleges.” OBU has been Oklahoma's highest ranked comprehensive college in the US News rankings for 16 consecutive years.
ST. GREGORY'S UNIVERSITY: A private, Catholic liberal arts university founded in 1875, making it one of the oldest higher learning schools in the state.
UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX: With degree programs in a wide range of disciplines including Nursing and Health Care, Business/Accounting, Human Services and Criminal Justice, the University of Phoenix in Oklahoma City serves over 1,000 students.
MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY: A private, liberal arts college with over 1,000 students.
SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY: SCU, a private school, has developed beyond the parameters of just a Bible college to become a full Christian liberal arts university.
HILLSDALE FREE WILL BAPTIST COLLEGE: A Christian liberal arts college offering several associate's and bachelor's degree programs and a master's degree program in ministry.
DEVRY UNIVERSITY: A private, four-year school with 200 students.
