As they say, “data is king” (we aren’t actually sure who said that but surely someone did). The City of Oklahoma City has an amazing resource called Data.okc.gov that gives people access to all kinds of amazing datasets that give a better picture of what is going on in OKC.
Data.okc.gov is home to the Open Data Portal which provides easy, online access to commonly requested datasets, maps and more. Want to know the actual city boundaries? Boom there is a map. Ready to spend your weekend looking for hidden gems? Check out the garage sale map that shows where permits have been filed for upcoming garage sales. Curious what the elevation contours of Oklahoma City are (I mean who isn’t)? There is a map for that. While the datasets are almost limitless, the Category Quick Links feature makes the site incredibly easy to navigate and use.
One of the handiest features is being able to search data by address. Oklahoma City is a massive city (620 square miles of land), so sometimes it can be confusing what school district you are in or who your city council representative is. Type your address in the search and it will tell you who your councilperson is, your school district, trash service day and more.
