Fall, as you know, is about more than football and foliage. It's also the time for Halloween and letting out your inner ghoul, and the Oklahoma City metro offers plenty of fiendishly family-friendly fun.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings through the month of October, ghosts, hobgoblins and other shiver-inducing types take over Frontier City for FrightFest. It's the Halloween kit and caboodle, including trick-or-treating, spooktacular entertainment, monster parades, magic, a haunted house and much more.
Oklahoma River Cruises hosts Haunt the River cruises for kids on Saturdays as well as the kind that's just for grownups. The adult-centric variety, which runs Friday, Oct. 14, through Saturday, Oct. 29, features hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and costume contests.
For trick-or-treating, the Oklahoma City Zoo boasts 21 treat booths during its annual Haunt the Zoo, held nightly from Wednesday, Oct. 26, through Monday, Oct. 31. Trick-or-treating is also featured at Haunt the Harn Homestead on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., a bash that includes a cupcake walk, face-painting and more. On Oct 29, the Orr Family Farm hosts trick-or-treating and a costume contest.
Spiders, snakes and other real-life things that crawl, slink and otherwise freak out our grandmothers (or us, if we're being completely honest) will populate the annual Creepy Conservatory from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 29, at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.
