Oklahoma City's Western tradition and strong commitment from the community are among the reasons the city is known far and wide as the horseshow capital of the world. This isn't horseplay; we're talking high-stakes equine championships that draw huge numbers of spectators and first-class riders from around the nation and globe. And three biggies are coming up before year's end: the American Quarter Horse World Championship from Saturday, Nov. 5, to Saturday, Nov. 19; the National Reining Horse Association Futurity from Thursday, Nov. 24, to Saturday, Dec. 3; and the World Championship Barrel Futurity from Tuesday, Dec. 6 to Saturday, Dec. 10. So saddle up – figuratively speaking, that is – and get your tickets at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds Box Office at 948-6808.
