It's Sweet 16 for Mesta Festa, an annual shindig thrown by residents of Mesta Park, one of the city's most charming historic neighborhoods. Held from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, the celebration boasts music by students of ACM@UCO (otherwise known to the in-crowd as the School of Rock), children's activities sponsored by nearby Wilson Elementary School and lots of food, drink and beer samplings courtesy a host of local restaurants and breweries. And what's a neighborhood party without a chili cook-off? Mesta Park is bordered to the north and south by N.W. 18 and N.W. 19 Streets, with Shartel and Lee to the east and west.
