Take note, hunting enthusiasts: Deer season begins in October, as does hunting season for rabbit, antelope, bear and crow. The Department of Wildlife Conservation lists specifics about the hunting seasons, permit requirements and other crucial information.
For deer hunters, archery season begins Oct. 1, muzzle-loading season runs Oct. 22 through Oct. 30 and gun hunting begins Nov. 19 and goes through Dec. 4. The state's total deer harvest for the 2010-11 season exceeded 100,000 animals for the sixth straight year, so things are bound to be promising.
